RE

The aim of RE learning at The Willows is for the children to acquire and develop knowledge and understanding of the principal religions represented in Great Britain. RE learning allows the children to appreciate the way religious beliefs shape life and our behaviour. RE at The Willows allows the children to develop the ability to make reasoned and informed judgements about religious and moral issues and enhances their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

At The Willows, RE is delivered using the 'Discovery RE' scheme and will be taught in blocks so that children are able to fully understand the ideas and beliefs they are studying. Different world religions are covered throughout the school with a repeated focus on Christianity. During their time at The Willows, our children will also study Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Humanism. All religions and their communities are treated with respect and sensitivity and we value the links, which are, and can be made between home, school, and a faith community.  We acknowledge that each religion studied can contribute to the education of all our pupils.

Through their RE learning, the children are able to make links between their own lives and those of others in The Willows' community and the wider world. Our children are developing an understanding of other people’s cultures and ways of life and why they choose to live in that way.
