At the Willows we use Accelerated Reader, which is a reading program that encourages children to read independently. Accelerated Reader helps teachers track students’ independent practice and progress with reading.

Children are assessed using a Star Reader test through the year. The children are then given a ZPD level that they then use to choose books that they can read. Once the children have read a book they can quiz on it to practise their comprehension skills.

All children have been given a username and password that allows them to access the Accelerated Reader website.

We have a large collection of books available in school, for the children, that are leveled for Accelerated Reader and we are in the process of levelling all books in our library, your child will be encouraged to take a book home daily and to read for at least 30 minutes every evening. If your child reads any book they then quiz on the book using the link below.
