Music
At The Willows Primary School, we are committed to providing children with enriching musical experiences that inspire a love for music and the performing arts. Our music education program offers students the opportunity to learn, play, and perform using a varied range of musical instruments.
We have begun to expand our performance opportunities, allowing pupils to showcase their talents and develop confidence in their musical abilities. Following the National Curriculum, our music lessons integrate elements of the model music curriculum to enhance learning and engagement. Our staff strive to make music both enjoyable and meaningful, fostering creativity, social awareness, and self-esteem.
Music plays an essential role in school life, with lessons that are hands-on and immersive. Through singing and playing both tuned and untuned instruments, children develop essential musical skills. They learn to control sound through rehearsal and performance, express their creativity through improvisation and composition, and critically engage with music by analysing and responding to various pieces.
Additionally, our curriculum introduces children to a wide variety of musical styles and traditions from different cultures, broadening their understanding and appreciation of the global musical landscape.
We use Charanga to deliver our Music lessons.
