Wk Ending 16/10/26

This week has been a superb week of learning all at the same time, something that we do in Yr1. We have started a new Maths Scheme called 'Power Maths'.

We have finally been able to celebrate Ivy-Rose and Noah, our two 'Class Parliament representatives.     We elected them for 1MF at the start of this month.    Well done to you both!

SCIENCE

  • Animals, Including Humans:                                                                                                                                 *Link the five senses to their corresponding body parts.                                                                             *Identify, name, draw, and label basic parts of the human body.

This term we have been learning about the different parts of the body and sang 'Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes', which was a lot of fun, especially when we got quicker.  We have been drawing and labelling our body and face – Our challenge was to add any extra features or body parts that we might not know.  Some of 1MF identified the initial sounds to read the words. Others were able to decode/blend the sounds to read the word and our challenge was to read the word fluently. We used our ruler to draw a line to the body parts we knew, then stuck the labels or wrote the word.

Mrs Dunn celebrated our 'Reading Challenge'                                    this week, by awarding two certificates.

It is important for us to catch up to the Yr1 reading level and the only way we can help ourselves get better at reading is to rise to the challenge and read at least 3 times a week.
