Wk Ending 16/10/26

We have come to the end of another exciting week in Reception!

Our focus book this week is called 'Pumpkin Soup'. Some pumpkins of all different sizes arrived in our classroom. We looked carefully at all the details on them and used oil pastels to draw them independently. We then used orange 'brusho' to paint over the top.

This week we had to guess what scent our playdough was. We could see it was orange in colour so some of the guesses were orange or pumpkin but it was cinnamon!

In 'Pumpkin Soup' the characters played musical instruments called bagpipes and banjos but we were not sure what they sounded like. We watched a video of people playing the instruments and moved our bodies to the music.

In phonics we learnt the sounds 'g', 'o', 'c' and 'k'. We used our sounds to write the names of the main characters in our story; cat, squirrel and duck, ensuring our letters were formed correctly.

In maths our focus was on numbers 1 to 4. We made our own subitising cards by printing with carrots and tested each other. We use our eyes to subitise! We are learning the rhymes we have been shown to write our numbers accurately.
