Wk ending 19/06/26

We have continued reading the story 'The Singing Mermaid' this week. In the story, the mermaid gets taken to the circus. We have been learning about what a circus is, looking back to the past and comparing it to today. We have learnt that in circuses many years ago there were wild animals such as lions and elephants! We discovered there are many acts, such as acrobats, clowns and fire-eaters. We followed small step instructions to draw our own clowns. We then had our photo taken and used oil pastels to turn ourselves into clowns! We continue to develop our reading skills in phonics as well as playing games; this week we had to find the end sound of a word.  In maths, we have been practising a skill called subitising, playing games in the garden using the dice and learning a new song to help us remember to use our eyes when we subitise!
