Spring 2026
🌿 What We’re Learning This Term in Year 4
Amazon Rainforest
This term, Year 4 are setting off on a vibrant learning adventure as we explore the incredible Amazon Rainforest. We’ll begin by revisiting our knowledge of the world’s continents before zooming in on South America and discovering the countries that the Amazon stretches across. The children will learn about the rainforest’s unique climate, extraordinary wildlife and the people who live there. Later in the term, we’ll bring our learning closer to home by studying the counties of England and comparing the Amazon Rainforest with one of Suffolk’s own woodlands — Rendlesham Forest. We’re even hoping to organise a school trip linked to our geography work… watch this space!
Young Voices Choir
We also have an exciting highlight on the horizon: our trip to Young Voices in London, where the children will join thousands of other pupils for an unforgettable choir experience. It’s always a magical event and we can’t wait to see (and hear!) the children shine.
Writing Activities In English
We’ll be getting creative with prepositional poetry, using rich language to paint pictures of the rainforest. The children will also be writing an action‑packed narrative based on a dramatic crash in the Amazon, as well as crafting persuasive letters linked to our geography learning.
PE Lessons
A quick reminder that PE will now take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so children will to wear their need their kits in school on both days.
It’s shaping up to be a lively, imaginative and memorable term — full of discovery, creativity and new experiences
