Autumn 2025

This term, we have been travelling back in time to discover the fascinating world of Ancient Greece. Our learning has taken us on a journey through history, geography, mythology and more, all centred around understanding what life was like in this remarkable civilisation.

πŸ” Investigating Greek Life

The children have been learning how historians use different sources and artefacts to uncover what life was like in the past. We have explored Ancient Greek homes, clothing, daily life and the influence Greece has had on the modern world. Using a range of resources has helped the children build a clearer picture of this important period in history.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Geography: Mapping Greece

As part of our studies, we have looked closely at maps to identify the physical features of Greece. The children have learnt about its mountains, islands and coastlines, as well as the warm Mediterranean climate that shaped Greek life. They enjoyed colouring and labelling their own maps to show key features such as rivers and mountain ranges.

πŸ›οΈ Greek Day

Our Greek Day was a real highlight! The children had the chance to:

  • Taste a selection of traditional Greek foods

  • Take part in their own version of the Olympic Games

  • Create detailed maps showing geographical features

You can find photos from our exciting day here.

πŸ“š English: Myths, Heroes and Adventures

In English, we are reading Greek Myths and Who Let the Gods Out? These fantastic stories have been inspiring our writing, helping us create our own mythical characters, heroic quests and imaginative settings. The children have loved stepping into a world filled with gods, monsters and epic adventures.

We are proud of the curiosity and enthusiasm Year 4 have shown throughout their learning so far. Keep checking our page for updates and examples of our work!
