Summer 2026
Enquiry Question: How do artists show us nature in detail?
This term, children will be exploring how artists look closely at the natural world and represent it in different ways. They will learn how to notice detail, use colour carefully and think about shapes and patterns found in nature.
We will take inspiration from artists such as David Hockney, known for his bright and colourful landscapes, and Andy Warhol, who used bold colours and repeating patterns in his artwork. Children will also look at The Kelpies, discovering how these impressive sculptures represent animals on a huge scale.
As the term progresses, pupils will use these ideas to design their own zoo enclosures. They will think about what animals need to live happily and how to create designs that are both practical and visually interesting.
By the end of the enquiry, children will have developed their drawing and design skills, as well as their confidence in sharing and explaining their creative ideas.
