ITFC Football tournaments
On Monday 8th December, Year 5 and 6 boys represented the school at the Premier League Primary Stars Cup, held at Portman Road by the Ipswich Town Foundation. The boys played eight games throughout the competition, and it was an absolute pleasure to see how hard they worked in every match. Winning two games and drawing several others against some very strong primary schools was fantastic to see.
All of the boys followed the rules of the competition brilliantly, as well as the expectations set by Mr Smith. It was great to see them celebrate their goals and enjoy their successes as a team. Although only the school that finished top of the table progressed to the next round—and unfortunately Willows did not finish top—I was immensely proud of every student involved. I would also like to say a big thank you to Mrs Bell for her fantastic support and help throughout the day.
On Friday 12th December, Year 2 girls represented the school at the Premier League Primary Stars Festival, also held at Portman Road by the Ipswich Town Foundation. The girls played six games during the festival, and it was wonderful to see their confidence grow as the event progressed. Seeing them celebrate when they scored goals was fantastic, and it was lovely to see the parents supporting the girls throughout the day.
At the end of the festival, the girls enjoyed a mini tour of Portman Road, including visiting the manager’s and players’ seating areas, the First Team changing rooms, and receiving a bag of rewards in recognition of their brilliant efforts.
My thanks go to the parents for staying to support the girls, and, of course, to Mrs Dennington for her presence and continued support throughout the event.
Regards
Mr Smith
