Routine and consistency are really important to us in The Rockpool. They help us all - staff and pupils - plan, prepare, manage anxiety and feel safe. Sometimes when things change it can feel unsettling. But some changes are unavoidable and sometimes the routine has to be flexible - by feeling safe in the consistency of the classroom, we are better able to cope when changes occur.
This week has been a great example of how safe and secure we all feel in our class because there have been many changes to routine and we have coped so well. We had a day off school on Monday when the grown-ups talked with our parents about how we getting on, then school photographs on Thursday interrupted our usual morning with something new, exciting and a little scary (big lights and flashes!). On top of that, we have faced illness and bad weather which we can never really prepare for. You'd think that all of that would make for a difficult week but not for us in The Rockpool - look at everything we have achieved!
Photograph day - a singing and art activity: Look At Me! (...and eyes, and ears, and a mouth and a nose...)
Understanding our world - science investigations in action
Practical Maths - playing with the number 4 and exploring what it means
Sharing, joining in and taking part (in the classroom and out and about)
This week we have learnt so much about ourselves and how much we are capable of - Rockpool, we are so proud of you!
