In The Rockpool we are beginning to introduce learning that links to wider curriculum subject areas. Always working to develop our communication and interaction skills, this week each afternoon has taken a different curriculum focus to unlock our hidden talents and help us find new ways of working and sharing together.
On Monday, we had a session with percussion instruments. Lots of great music learning happened, including language for stop and go, fast and slow, and loud and quiet, clapping and walking in time with the music and listening for different timbre.
On Tuesday we linked to PE skills when our classroom was transformed into a sensory gym! We were spinning, bouncing, crawling, hiding, rolling, relaxing, throwing, catching, wriggling, twisting, and lots and lots of giggling!
On Wednesday, we joined our music and PE skills together for a Gym Jam session so singing and dancing. Following instructions, working together, listening to the music and keeping our excitement under control - we were amazing at this! (It was so great, we didn't get any photos at all!)
On Thursday, we got creative with a giant artwork on the floor of the classroom. It was magic art - as we painted, a picture began to appear. We worked so well altogether, keeping as close as we could to the egde of the paper so we didn't get ourselves too covered...but a little bit of paint won't stop us and we are all content to carry on and clean up later!
And the week can't end without our exciting trip to the school field, hunting for the hiding alphabet starfish and counting our steps to 3 for What's The Time, Mr Wolf? before the big scary wolf chased us for dinner time!
Rockpool - you have been awesome!
