This week, Year 5 enjoyed an exciting trip to The Hold to visit its space-themed exhibition!
The children discovered lots of fascinating facts about space and even had the incredible opportunity to touch a real piece of Moon rock! They learned about the relationship between the Moon and the tides, as well as the surprising ways the Moon can affect animal life here on Earth.
Year 5 also explored the history of Ipswich by looking at old maps dating all the way back to the 1500s. They compared these historic maps with maps from the present day to see just how much Ipswich has changed over the centuries.
A particular highlight was a special behind-the-scenes visit to the archives. The children learned how important historical documents and objects are carefully protected and preserved for future generations. They even discovered why some items need to be kept in special cold storage rooms!
It was a fantastic day filled with history, science and plenty of fascinating discoveries.
