Wk Ending 23/10/26
We have come to the end of our first half term in Reception!
We have continued to read our story 'Pumpkin Soup' and this week we made some of our own! First we washed our hands before we started cooking. We followed the recipe by cutting up the pumpkin, adding the water and vegetable stock cube, finally blending it so it had a smooth texture. We tasted it while it was still warm then voted if we liked the taste or not.
We created some autumn leaves using cellophane which helped us to practise cutting, peeling and sticking. We learnt about Halloween and why it is celebrated. We found out that children dress up in costumes such as witches and skeletons to go trick or treating. We decided to make our own witch potions and carve pumpkins to get ready to celebrate. We practised following instructions by dancing to some Halloween music.
In maths we explored the number four, subitising and making four in different ways. We used positional language to describe how we made four.
