We have come to the end of another busy week in Reception!
Our new book this week is called 'The Squirrels who squabbled'. In our literacy lessons we have been beginning to write simple CVC words, listening carefully to the sounds we can hear and forming our letters correctly. We have been continuing to practise writing our name independently.
We have been learning about the seasons of the year, focussing on Autumn. We know that at the moment the leaves on the trees are changing colour and falling to the ground. We collected the fallen leaves in our forest and used them to create some art, taking inspiration from the story 'Leaf Man'.
In maths we learnt about five frames and how to count accurately. Together we came up with some counting rules to help us; count slowly, touch each item and say the number name. We discovered that many things can be counted, even sounds like claps or drum beats.
Every week we have lots of fine motor skills practise so that our fingers can be strong for holding our pencil and writing. This week we used lego for this, following instructions and working as a team to build models.
