What an exciting and busy week in Reception!
We started our new story called 'The Colour Monster' where we learnt about different colours and emotions and how to manage them ourselves.
In our first Forest School session we had so much fun exploring and going on the rope swing! We found lots of signs of Autumn like conkers and brown crunchy leaves.
In maths our focus this week has been subitising and we have been practising this new skill in many ways including playing a game on our whiteboard which helped us to recognise numerials as well as subitising.
We have continued fine motor skills practise in many ways such as painting using thin brushes, peg boards and creating a water run with pipes.
We have been painting using water colours this week and discovered you must put lots of water on your paper first, then the colours will mix. We learnt about primary colours and mixed them together to make secondary colours.
Lastly we read a story called 'Anna Hibiscus' Song'. In the story Anna is so happy she does not know what to do with herself. After finding out what things all her family members do when they are feeling happy she decided to sit quietly in the mango tree and all the birds came to sing to her. We learnt that mangos grow on trees in hot countries and on Wednesday we tasted some mango. Lots of us loved how sweet and juicy it was and some of us did not like it but we all tried it. We drew around our hands and wrote down things that made us feel happy.
