Wk ending 05/06/26

We’ve had a wonderfully busy and energetic first week back in Year 4. The children settled straight into their learning and showed real enthusiasm across all subjects. In art, we began exploring the work of Takehito Miyatake, a Japanese photographer known for capturing the striking contrast between neon light and the natural world. The class were fascinated by the way he uses colour, movement and long‑exposure photography to create atmosphere, and they enjoyed discussing how these ideas might inspire their own pieces over the coming weeks.

In science, we launched our new topic on electricity. The children began by thinking about where electricity comes from, how we use it every day, and how to stay safe around electrical appliances. They were full of thoughtful questions and are already looking forward to building simple circuits as the unit develops.

PE has also taken off with the start of cricket and rounders this half term. The children practised key skills such as throwing, catching and batting, and showed great teamwork as they began to apply these skills in small games. It was brilliant to see so much encouragement and sportsmanship across the class.

To round off the week with something truly special, we were lucky enough to welcome the Ipswich Town promotion trophy into school on Friday. The children were thrilled to see it up close and to celebrate the club’s incredible achievement in reaching the Premier League. It was a memorable moment and a lovely way to end a very positive week.
