This week in Year 5, we’ve been diving into the fascinating world of optical illusions. We explored different types of illusions—including movement illusions, hidden images, and size-and-shape tricks—and examined how artists use these effects to play with the way we see. After studying some striking examples of Op Art by Bridget Riley, the children sketched and created their own illusion artwork, experimenting with lines, contrast, and perspective. We also took our learning outside, working in groups to act out each type of illusion using our bodies, turning the playground into a lively space of creativity and teamwork.
