Wk ending 6/3/26

Year 5 had a wonderfully rich week of reading and storytelling. On Thursday, they celebrated World Book Day, taking part in a range of book-related activities and enjoying special reading time with their families. The children loved sharing stories, discovering new favourites, and practising fluent reading with growing confidence and expression.

As part of their learning, the class explored stories from other cultures, focusing on The Empty Pot, a traditional tale from China centred on honesty and integrity. They were captivated by the story’s message and responded creatively through art, using colour, symbolism and expression to explore the emotions within the tale. Their artwork reflected feelings of worry, honesty, relief and pride, showing a deep understanding of the characters’ journeys. It was a week full of imagination, reflection and a shared love of stories.
