Wk ending 23/1/26

Year 6 have been developing their persuasive writing skills by writing letters to a fictional supermarket, aiming to persuade them not to use balloons at their grand opening. Pupils focused on using emotive language, clear opinions and well-chosen reasons to strengthen their arguments. They explored the impact of balloon waste on the environment and wildlife, carefully structuring their writing to engage the reader and make their viewpoint convincing. Watch this space for replies!

Pupils have also been learning about government and democracy in the UK. They explored different political parties, including the Conservatives, Labour and Liberal Democrats, and discussed how these groups represent different ideas and values. The children wrote their own political speeches and created a manifesto, setting out what they would change if they were in charge, before learning about voting and the importance of having a voice in a democratic society. Who knows… there may be some future Members of Parliament right here in 6HW!
