Wk ending 13/2/26
Year 5 have been working incredibly hard this week as they published their own travel brochures, carefully crafting them to be both appealing and persuasive for their readers. They made excellent use of rhetorical questions, modal verbs and expanded noun phrases to bring their destinations to life.
In English, the children also began exploring balanced arguments, looking at a range of examples such as Should homework be banned?, Should children be allowed pets? and Is it ever okay to break the rules? After half term, they will continue this work by focusing on the key writing features needed to create a well-structured balanced argument of their own.
In Science, the children carried out an investigation to test which materials make the best insulators, thinking carefully about fair testing when planning and conducting their experiment. Their curiosity and effort have shone through across all subjects.
