Spring 2026

Happy New Year to you all!

Welcome back to Year 6 after the Christmas break. We hope you all had a lovely and restful holiday and are ready for an exciting new term.

This half-term will be full of opportunities for the children to think deeply, ask big questions and continue to develop their independence and confidence as learners.

There will also be time for daily reflection through the latest 'My Happy Mind' unit of work, focusing on gratitude, what it means to be grateful and how this can benefit both children and adults alike.

Our new enquiry question is, 'Can one person change the world?'

This will be explored through geography, environmental issues and our class novel, The Song of the Dolphin Boy by Elizabeth Laird. This powerful and imaginative story allows us to explore how human actions affect the natural world, particularly our oceans, and how issues such as plastic pollution can have far-reaching consequences.

By combining fiction with real-world environmental themes, the children will be encouraged to think about responsibility, empathy and the impact that individuals can have.
