๐ŸŒ• Moon Landings Exploration

This week, our class has been learning all about the moon landings. We travelled back to 1969 and discovered how astronauts first walked on the moon as part of the Apollo 11 mission.

We found out that:

  • Neil Armstrong was the first person to step onto the moon.

  • Buzz Aldrin was the second.

  • Michael Collins stayed in the command module, orbiting above the moon.

The children have enjoyed watching videos, looking at photographs, and discussing why this moment was so important for science and history. Many pupils created their own rockets, astronaut sketches, and fun fact cards๐Ÿ” Rock Investigators

As part of our science learning, we explored different types of rocks. The children used magnifying glasses to observe textures, colours, and patterns up close.
We talked about how rocks can be smooth, rough, grainy, or shiny, and discussed what they might be used for in everyday life. The class loved becoming real rock detectives!

๐Ÿ“ฐ Newspaper Features

In English, we have been learning about the features of newspapers.
Together, we explored:

  • Headlines

  • Captions

  • Photographs

  • Facts and quotations

  • Opening paragraphs

  • Subheadings

We looked at examples and talked about why newspapers are written the way they are. The children even began planning their own newspaper reports — some chose to write about the moon landings!

โญ Another Fantastic Week!

The children have shown brilliant curiosity, teamwork, and creativity in all their learning. We are excited to continue our space adventures and explore even more next week!
